Nick Mason, the “Living Dead Drummer,” was born in Buffalo, NY and grew up in a musical family. His journey began in the percussion pit of his elementary school orchestra, but quickly found passion for the drumming of modern heavy rock bands. By high school he started playing the local club scene with his own original rock groups, leading to participation in multiple musical projects and opening the door to working as a freelance “drummer for hire.” It was in the early 2000’s that he was first approached by a Niagara Falls based music shop to provide in-store lessons.
Over the last 25 years Nick has held a steady roster of weekly students, providing private lessons at well-established music schools, brick & mortar stores, and at private residence.
Thanks to modern internet based streaming services, his students now span multiple states and countries, many of whom have gone onto prominent musical careers of their own.
As a session musician, his drumming can be heard on over 100 commercially released recordings & soundtracks. Many of which have debuted in the top ten for both Billboard and International music charts. He has been featured in dozens of music videos alongside members of the Alice Cooper band, David Lee Roth’s solo band, Trixter, and Orianthi, just to name a few. He’s been seen drumming on TV and in films for New Line Cinema, Cartoon Network, Showtime, Amazon, FOX, and ABC.
Nick also regularly tours around the world performing with renown artists including Street Drum Corps and Jason Charles Miller (Godhead / Final Fantasy XIV). As well as icons from the 1980’s such as Lorraine Lewis’ Femme Fatal, Pretty Boy Floyd, Enuff Z’Nuff, and TUFF. Plus a multitude of independent artists over a 30+ year career.
